Located on a hill near the village of Enisala, the medieval fortress offers breathtaking views of Razim and Babadag lakes. Built in the 14th century, the fortress played a strategic role in controlling trade routes in the area.

It is the only medieval fortress still standing in this part of the country, there are only a few others in Moldova. What’s unusual about this fortress is its military role (it was from here that the Genoese used to watch the merchant ships during the period when they controlled the water traffic) combined with the unique landscape. It’s a happy marriage of scientific interest and tourist attraction.
