Located near Enisala, the reserve protects the wild peony (Paeonia peregrina), offering a special natural spectacle during the flowering period in late April and early May.
The peony, scientifically known as Paeonia, is one of the most spectacular flowers in Romanian flora. This perennial plant, considered a symbol of beauty and sensitivity, is deeply rooted in our rich soil, and the joy of seeing peonies in bloom is something special.
Romania celebrates on May 15 the Day of the Peony, and this wild flower, considered an element of national identity, blooms once a year and can be admired for about 10 days in May, around the day of the celebration, weather conditions are those that influence the time of flowering.
The range is eagerly watched by tourists who want to admire these special flowers.
Enisala Reserve is also home to other rare species of plants and animals, making it a rich and protected ecosystem. As you stroll along the narrow, winding paths of the reserve, you’ll discover other wildflowers in bloom, such as wild lilac, rock carnation and heath fritillary.
The nature reserve is FREE to visit. Plants are protected by law, it is TOTALLY FORBIDDEN to break or destroy them.
