Ceaplace Island is located in the northern part of Lake Sinoe, near the boundary of the Wolves’ Grind protected area.
With a surface area of 0.6 ha and a length of 4,514 m, the atoll-shaped island delimits a small bay in the north-west of the lake where the pelicans, one of the most beautiful birds of the Danube Delta, nest.
As early as March, the pelicans settle on the island, where they lay their eggs and stay until early June, when the chicks are old enough to fend for themselves.
From Jurilovca it can be reached by boat in about 20-30 minutes.
It’s important to keep your distance from the colony so that the birds feel safe.
